Women’s Health Losing Weight After Pregnancy
ByLifestyle today is largely dictated by what is fashionable and what is not. It is also influenced by what is seen on TV and the celebrities, whether sponsoring a product or whether through an interview regarding the maintenance of the body and the methods used at losing weight after pregnancy. While there is nothing wrong with fashion, in fact being fashionable is looking well, there are people who are blessed with genes and metabolism that gives them the body that they have. On the other hand, celebrities and fashion icons have commitments and obligations in maintaining the image and the figure and are surrounded by people who will insure that they do. For the rest of us, the issue in health really is maintaining a strong and healthy body.
The most important body in the world right now is yours. Let’s talk about it.
Eat well and eat healthy
For the average woman, it will take six months to regain the body back to normalcy. After giving birth, you will likely breastfeed the infant and you will need all the nutrients (including calories) to raise a healthy baby. Even when you are not breastfeeding, the first three months will be stressful as you care for the newborn and give night feeds and you will need much energy to cope. Eating well and eating healthy with enough exercise and rest will restore that which was lost during pregnancy. While breastfeeding, you will need 500 calories every day to sustain your milk output. The extra calories are recommended as an average, you will need more if you are underweight, a little less if you are not.
Exercise
Exercising too soon after birth could do more damage than good. This does not mean though that you limit your activity or worse be sedentary. You could do gentle exercises after a few days and when you feel that your body is up to it. But whatever you do, you must ask your doctor on the methods that you could use. Your doctor is in the best position to know the right exercise that you could take. Your doctor will also explain the health benefits, and no, exercising does not interfere with your ability to produce milk.
Losing weight after pregnancy
As you approach the third month, you will be ready to take exercises to lose the weight gained. By the third month, your strength is back to normal and you could start doing vigorous exercises. Avoid fast weight loss regimens. Fast weight loss programs may make you lose weight but it will not bring you health. There are no fast weight lose program that is healthy no matter the testimony, the advert and the endorsement. The usual diets given in fast weight lose programs are either boring, unpalatable or hunger suppressants. Suppressing the hunger means only one thing, to deny the body the nutrient that it needs. Do not do it. The objective is the health and not the appearance so aim instead on losing one pound a week. Keep your diet healthy and very nutritious.
Losing weight after pregnancy depends much on the weight gained before giving birth. Typically, a woman gains 35 pound when pregnant and loses 13 after giving birth. The 22 pounds difference would be lost in 22 weeks if you lose one pound each week.
