Resistance Bands What Are They and Why You Should Use Them
ByResistance bands or rubber band workout equipment are a great alternative for strength training without weights. Exercise bands have become one of the more popular exercise modalities for a person training on their own. Bands are a fairly new addition to the fitness world.
When you workout using resistance bands, you can choose from various levels of resistance for your fitness needs and goals. These bands will be thicker and thus harder to stretch as you workout – causing your muscles to work harder. The bands are also effective because they allow for a wider range of motion than traditional weight machines. When you’re able to move the muscle in more directions, you will be able to workout not only the major muscle groups, but also the more minor supporting muscles – which adds up to a better workout.
Resistance bands are truly an amazing exercise accessory that would really give value to your routine exercise as well as worth the money spent in purchasing the item. It is considered a priced possession for anyone who has it.
Rubber band exercise equipment is much more convenient than typical weight-lifting gear, being lighter, more portable and composed of strips of rubber with plastic hand-holds for ease of use. A typical use for resistance bands is to place the end of the band under your feet while standing, hold the other end in one or both hands, and pull up against the band. A resistance band with handles on either end can be held by the feet while seated on the ground with legs outstretched. Taking a handle in either hand, you pull with both back and shoulder muscles to work the same muscle groups that a. Resistance bands are much more portable than other exercise equipment.
Using bands is a great way to mix up your daily Pilates routine at home. The variety of ways you can use the bands is enormous. There are so many choices because you can create the resistance from below, above, and the sides. Because the rubber bands incorporate resistance in both directions (the up and the down movement) they go hand in hand with the Pilates philosophy, unlike free weights where you get more resistance on one part of the movement. For example – in the gym when performing a tricep curl, you encounter all of the resistance as you lift the dumbbell and drastically less resistance as you lower it down. The bands give you the same amount of tension in both directions. Because of this constant tension, you have to work hard to stabilize the body. This work not only helps to incorporate more muscle groups but will greatly increase coordination and balance.
Nowadays, one of the main reasons why people are unable to stay fit is because of busy lives and lack of time. Going to the gym is not practicable for everyone and buying equipment for home gym can be costly. With resistance bands, you can avoid the gym all together, and have a good workout session in the privacy of your home. If your job or business involves lots of traveling, you might not get many opportunities to go to a gym. You can carry these light weight and portable resistance bands in your suitcase or purse easily. You can then have a quick workout anywhere like a park or a hotel room. Training with resistance bands will target every muscle group. You can attach the bands to doorways, heavy furniture, or even stationary objects for exercising. You can also hold the handles and stand on the middle of the band to do exercises. You can get good chest, arms, back, legs, and shoulder workout with these bands.
Resistance bands are a great way to combine strength training and cardio all at once when you’re short on time. Traditionally, the rest period between exercises in this workout is very little if any, often with rapid movement from exercise to exercise. Choose three exercises that you can do back to back with the bands like a lunge, shoulder press, and dead lift. Execute each exercise for 8-10 reps than move to the next exercise until you complete the entire set. For best results, train opposing muscle groups first. This approach to training allows one muscle group to recover while the opposing muscle group is working.
Resistance bands are reasonably priced when compared to a gym membership or elaborate home gym. So take a look at resistance band as part of your exercise program.
